Posted on Monday, January 19, 2009
The Campbell Memorial High School graduation class of 1958 has created an annual scholarship to be awarded to a Campbell Memoral High School graduating senior beginning in 2009.
The scholarship, called the Campbell Memorial High School Class of 1958 Scholarship for Academic Excellence, will be worth $500 to $1,000 to start, but it is hoped that the monetary value will increase annually.
It will be awarded annually to the Campbell Memorial graduating senior with the highest cumulative grade point average combined with the greatest need.
The scholarship was establish and announced at the Class of 1958's 50-year reunion held last September 19-20-21.
Annual pledges made to the scholarship already total $1,150, but it is hoped that the amount will increase as more members of the Class of 1958 become aware of the scholarship.
Graduates of 1958 who are interested in making an annual pledge to the scholarship fund should send their checks to Judy (Ross) Patellis, 622 Matawan Drive, Campbell, Ohio 44405.
Contributors for the first year shall be recognized as founders of the scholarship.
The checks should be made payable to the Campbell Memorial Class of 1958, with a note designating in what name or names the scholarship is being created; and mailed to Patellis by no later than the first week of April each year.
All contributors to the scholarship will be recognized during the annual Campbell Memorial High School Alumni Association's Spring Banquet in April, when all alumni scholarships for the year are announced.
More information about the scholarship may be obtained by calling Patellis (330-755-2875), Sonia (Elioff) Tsvetkoff (330-533-3244), Norma (Piccolo) DeMain (330-793-5649), Marilyn (Temnick) Africa (330-533-1418 or John Kovach (330-799-4113).
