Press Release
August 20, 2007
The Campbell Memorial High School Alumni Association will hold its first
Homecoming Football Game Reunion and Tailgate Party on Friday, Sept. 28, from
5-11 p.m. at the Sanderson Avenue parking lot adjacent to the high school.
The reunion is being held in conjunction with the Memorial High football team's
homecoming game against Howland High that will start at 7:30 p.m.
All alumni are invited to bring their families to the festivities to reunite
with old friends and classmates, to celebrate the long tradition of Memorial
High School and its football team, and to enjoy the state-of-the-art football
stadium and facilities and the beautiful campus surrounding the school.
Alumni are encouraged to bring food and refreshments to the reunion in the
tailgate tradition, while an alumni tent and food court also will be set up by
the alumni committee to provide plenty of food and refreshments for all alumni
throughout the night.
Alumni are invited and encouraged to park their vehicles in the Sanderson Avenue
parking lot adjacent to the school and the alumni tent to fill the parking slots
and create a tailgate atmosphere.
The Alumni Committee also will be selling official red-and-black Campbell
Memorial alumni sportswear like T-shirts, hats and other apparel, while also
distributing information to alumni about the Association, which was founded on
Jan. 10 of this year; and how they can become part of it.
During halftime, the alumni will present a plaque to the high school to
recognize and honor the two individuals who composed the high school alma mater
in 1947. Raymond Spagnola, a music teacher, wrote the music for the alma mater
while Josephine (Grohovsky) Parise, a senior student at the time, wrote the
lyrics. After the presentation, the alma mater will be sung.
The alumni association now has 23 Founding Trustees, each having contributed
$1,000 to fund and launch the Association. The latest trustee is The Shipka
Family (Robert (1955), Donna (wife), Al (father) and Ann (mother).
The alumni association awarded $5,250.00 in scholarships to Memorial High
graduates this year.
The association will be accepting contributions to become a Founding Trustee
until Jan. 10, 2008, and alumni are encouraged to become Founding Trustees and
to sponsor scholarships.
